“I am Claire Folkes – a small batch potter based in a small hamlet near Saffron Walden in Essex (18 miles South of Cambridgeshire). I throw all of my work on the potters wheel, using both porcelain and stoneware clays, which is then fired to 1,240C. I particularly enjoy the transformation from raw clay to a highly glazed surface, and my work always includes unglazed surfaces to highlight this contrast.
