"Hello, I’m Cheryl Liston, a contemporary artist based in South Cambridgeshire.  Although I have been painting with watercolours for the past 20 years, Caliston Art only really started for me recently, when I began painting with oils and immediately fell in love with the process!

I have a particular love of painting the sea and all things coastal. Surprising, you might think, given I have lived in Cambridge for most of my life, a fair distance from my favourite beach at Holkham in Norfolk, where I often visit to walk my old English sheepdog, Barney.

I love the colours of the ocean, the ever-changing sky and the openness of the coastline. The sky is a big part of my work and I get so much inspiration where I live, with the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets over the countryside, making me want to rush home and get painting! 

The name Caliston is derived from my initials and surname and I really like the ring it has. I attend many art fairs and exhibitions, but also sell my work online. I’m happy to take commissions, with examples and a full range of previous commission work, as well as all my available paintings on my website." — CHERYL
